AWS Series - Identity Access Management - IAM - Part 2 - MFA

Welcome back to AWS - Series IAM part 2 , In this blog we are going to see , what is AWS multi Factor Authentication, and How do we enable it from IAM service for users 




What is AWS MFA?

AWS multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) best practice that requires a second authentication factor in addition to user name and password sign-in credentials


How to enable the MFA for individual users from IAM services 

Double click the user and go the menu Security Credential 




Give the name for the MFA Device Name and select Authenticator  App




Click on Show QR Code on Set up device page



scan the QR Code using google or Microsoft authenticator and enter the MFA code 1 and 2 and click Add MFA

How to validate

Login with IAM user along with 12 digit Account ID




Use your login credential



In the next screen  it will ask for MFA to enter



Enter the Code from the authenticator



Finally,  the user RAVI can able to AWS console with MFA enabled
