How to customise channel email on Microsoft Teams

Hello All

Hope everyone is  doing good.

Today we are going to see, How to customise channel email on Microsoft Teams

how we can send email to Microsoft Teams channel? If so you are familiar with this feature, you know it generates an email that is far from being friendly.

The email generated for the Microsoft Teams channel will be something like this

Research and Development - Mark 8 Project Team <b8721d14.2t6xvv.onmicrosoft.com@amer.teams.ms>

There are two ways to change the behaviour - i can say it may be work around if you still wan to change the change the channel email address. however there is no straight forward mechanism available so-for, from Microsoft to change the channel email address

Methods

1. Shared Mailbox

2. Contact

So rather using this complex email address , we gonna configure to be mark8rand@2t6xvv.onmicrosoft.com

Method 1 : Shared Mailbox

  1. Open the Office 365 Admin Center --> Admin --> Exchange --->Shared Mailbox
  2. Create a New shared mailbox set the email forward to the 8721d14.2t6xvv.onmicrosoft.com@amer.teams.ms
  3. Like Below

Method 2 : Create Mail Contact

Chanel Email address be like
Vendor Notifications - Demo AIP <e62a2a78.2t6xvv.onmicrosoft.com@amer.teams.ms>

Create a mail user in exchange admin center [office365 portal]

Manage the email address with external smtp  e62a2a78.2t6xvv.onmicrosoft.com@amer.teams.ms

and Manage the email address again and create primary SMTP address with some meaning full name

Once you set up with either of the above two methods. you can receive the email from external and internal to the channel email address of meaning full names

Again - This is a work around and not sure why Microsoft not allowed us to manage the channel email address from teams client. You may commend, if you guys knows.
